University of Oregon Hatfield-Dowlin Complex Football Performance Center

University of Oregon

The goal for this athletic training center was to create a building and an environment that supports the owner’s training, management, recruitment, and development. This required efficient building systems to deliver a state-of-the-art athletic facility. The architectural design was integrated with the mechanical and plumbing systems in a seamless, elegant, and top-tier building.

Integral Group provided mechanical and plumbing design, energy analysis, commissioning, state energy mandate compliance, and incentive support for this project. Energy consumption is reduced by 20% below the baseline Oregon Energy Code to meet the SEED-mandated energy efficiency goals. To achieve this energy performance, Integral Group incorporated triple glazed windows, a high performance roof and wall system, a super-efficient central plant, and a high performance VAV air system with Thermafusers and low pressure drop AHU/duct into the building design. The mechanical system includes a chiller, boiler, and cooling tower; air handlers distribute this heating and cooling energy as well as ventilation air to all zones. A radiant floor partially conditions the dining room.

Plumbing systems include sanitary and domestic water systems, dual flush flushometer toilets, instant electric hot water heaters at lavatories, a wet-pipe fire protection system, and grease and oil interceptors.

This facility encompasses a 20,000 square foot weight room, locker room, dining facilities, entrance lobby, media presentation room, conference rooms, classrooms, theaters, office space, and a parking garage.
