Ali Nazari Co-Authors Whole Building Energy Modelling Guideline
Assuming the new title of “author” among his many roles, Energy and Sustainability Director Ali Nazari is one of the four professionals who authored the Whole Building Energy Modelling Services Guideline, jointly released by the Architectural Institute of British Columbia and Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia.
The document outlines the professional practices, responsibilities, and quality assurance protocols for projects that use Whole Building Energy Modelling. Serving as a tool for Architects and Engineers alike, the guideline establishes procedures surrounding the provision, procurement, and coordination of energy modelling and its related services on all types and sizes of new and existing buildings.
Additionally, the guideline provides a benchmark against which a design team can evaluate and then successfully select a Qualified Modeller or Energy Modelling Supervisor for their project. The importance of quality assurance during the energy modelling process is also highly emphasized.
Ali is excited to be a part of the team that has produced this significant, and previously lacking, body of work. “It was an honour for me to work with exceptional subject matter experts with whom we developed the first version of Building Energy Modelling Guideline. With the increasing demand for building energy simulation, this guideline was well required to standardize professional practice for architects and engineers who work on projects that utilize Whole Building Energy Modelling.”
