Silverstone Race Circuit Plot K Business Park

This new build development formed part of a multi million pound masterplan surrounding the Silverstone Race Circuit. The masterplan was created to ensure the site continued to be maintained at a high level so it can host the whole range of motorsport events and also remained the catalyst for motorsport technology and education, in the UK and on an international stage.

The Plot K Business Park consisted of 14 industrial/workshop new build units which predominantly provides key support space for production, technical and motorsport related uses. The new buildings are modern and flexible, plus include office accommodation, production space, welfare facilities for staff and a service area which facilitates the maneuvering of large vehicles in connection with loading and unloading operations.

One of the main challenges was to ensure the sites were flexible enough to accommodate other business uses, in the event that the occupiers move or cease trading from the premises, or if the nature of their operations changed.

A further challenge was to overcome the lack of available utilities around the vicinity of the site, in particular natural gas. To overcome this, a central tanked LPG system was initially provided, designed in such a way that when natural gas arrived to the development later, the existing gas distribution pipework can be adopted & connected to the natural gas supply.

We created an energy sufficient and sustainable design by working closely with the architect and client through several iterations of the energy model. Elementa provided mechanical, electrical, public health design and energy modelling for the site and infrastructure.
