Vineyard Primary School
The project involved the extension of an existing primary school from 2 to 3 form entry. This comprised the construction of 6 new classrooms, extension to the existing main hall, new purpose built dedicated administration areas and 3 specialist teaching rooms. The specialist teaching rooms include a learning difficulties classroom, art classroom and a science hub. An existing unused courtyard area was used as the location of the new science hub, which will be a demonstration teaching laboratory for the students and required bespoke services for school science applications.
Elementa provided all the mechanical, electrical and public health services including; the sustainable strategy design, dynamic thermal modelling, daylighting analysis and BREEAM assessment which is targeting a Very Good rating. The building is being designed to Part L regulations with a ‘fabric first’ passive approach. We are incorporating various consequential improvements as part of the works including: replacing the existing boiler plant, upgrading of existing building fabric as well as extending the existing building services to cater for the new extension.
Elementa were an integral part of the design team from conception and have had considerable input on all aspects of the extension design.
