Designing Schools for a Net Zero Future | Live Event Recording

Associate Engineer, Graham Day, draws upon his experience to demonstrate the key requirements of sustainable design.

This presentation provides guidance on how to design schools sustainably, focussing on low carbon design. Graham will look at both net-zero targets, whole-life carbon analysis and discuss how these apply to school design, with comparison to current UK design standards and LETI guidelines. He will also explore potential refurbishment strategies and benefits of refurbishing vs new build.

Graham was Elementa’s project manager for the UK’s first net-zero carbon school and since then has embarked on several more projects aiming for the same status. He is fully conversant with all aspects of M&E engineering services and possesses a holistic approach to his work as a result – understanding all areas of the project from commissioning to handover, having extensive experience in supervisory and quality control roles both nationally and internationally. His expertise in the areas of PassivHaus and low carbon design has placed him at the forefront of sustainability in building services.
