Ali Nazari Appointed Adjunct Professor at UBC High Performance Buildings Program
We are proud to announce that Ali Nazari, Principal and Energy & Sustainability Director of Canada, was recently appointed as an adjunct professor at the University of British Columbia (UBC) in the Master of Engineering Leadership (MEL) program in High Performance Buildings. The Master of Engineering Leadership program at UBC is a new degree offering at UBC for practicing professionals to acquire cross-disciplinary engineering instruction and personal leadership skills to make a difference in one of seven fields of focus, including High Performance Buildings.
With the high level of demand for high performance building experts in government and private industry, this program offers engineers and architects an interdisciplinary approach to building design—an approach that is already used and exemplified in Ali’s energy modeling and sustainability work at Integral Group.
“I completed my Master of Applied Science degree at UBC and benefited from the great mentors I had there, so I want to contribute back by building relationships between industry and universities in this new program.”
As an alumnus, Ali first became involved with the UBC ASHRAE Student Chapter as an industry supervisor in 2016. That year, the UBC team of students won first place in ASHRAE’s Design Calculations Competition, beating out 18 other teams from around the world. With this success, Ali was asked to contribute to UBC on a different level, this time in the inception and development of the MEL High Performance Buildings program.
Ali’s prestigious faculty posting benefits students, who will learn from Ali and other professionals’ real project expertise, but it benefits the industry and Integral Group as well. “We are finding and training good talent who will contribute back to the sustainable work we are all a part of, and this is aligned with Integral Group’s core values of trust, nurture, and inspire. We are building strong teams and new relationships, nurturing students and growing their knowledge, and inspiring these new leaders to drive positive and proactive changes in the field of high performance buildings.”
