Integral Group Wins Multiple USGBC Building Health Leadership Awards
The Green Health Partnership, a research and development initiative between United States Green Building Council (USGBC), the University of Virginia School of Medicine and the USGBC Pacific region communities announced award recipients at GreenerBuilder in San Francisco on July 25th.
The Building Health Leadership Awards were given to projects that have a particular focus on the well-being of occupants throughout all phases of building development and operation, including project planning, measurement of impact, and achieving certifications.
Integral Group is proud to announce that two of three award recipients are Integral Group projects:
Sonoma Academy Janet Durgin Guild + Commons
This project for Sonoma Academy is part of the second phase of redevelopment for their Santa Rosa campus. The new Grange + Studios building includes two main spaces for students as well as working space for maintenance staff. The Grange is a student center with two kitchens – one for teaching and one for food service. The Studios consists of a large maker space that opens onto a patio and outdoor teaching spaces.
The building design integrates biophilia, with abundant natural views and outdoor learning spaces that feature native vegetation.
The project is seeking LEED Platinum, Zero Net Energy, and WELL Building Standard certifications. It is the first building in Sonoma Academy – and of its building type – to target all of these sustainability goals.
University of California, Berkeley Haas School of Business Connie & Kevin Chou Hall
This new 6-story building for the Haas School of Business includes classrooms and private study rooms, a cafe, a 300-person event space, and unprogrammed “in between” spaces. The project was recently WELL Building Standard Silver Certified.
Integral Group’s design includes features that results in increased air quality, occupant comfort, superior lighting and daylighting, high-performance HVAC design and biophilic design. Integral Group provided energy modeling services to develop a shading strategy to maximize user comfort while allowing for large amounts of glass to be featured in the design to provide ample daylighting.
