Elementa shortlisted for 3 CIBSE Building Performance Awards 2018
Elementa are delighted to be shortlisted for three awards at the prestigious CIBSE Building Performance Awards 2018 – recognising the people, products and projects that demonstrate engineering excellence in the built environment. The Awards focus on actual, measured performance, not design intent or performance specifications.
Elementa are proud to be up for Consultancy of the Year for the third year in a row, winning the accolade last year and hoping to retain the crown in 2018 when the winners are announced at the Grosvenor Hotel in February. The award specifically commends consultancies that are meeting and exceeding clients expectations of building performance and are actively spreading knowledge and best practice of building performance. This is not the only title Elementa are hoping to retain, with the International Project of the Year title firmly in the hands of Elementa for the past 2 years.
This years shortlisted International Project belongs to The Millikan Laboratory at Pomona College. Fulfilling the award shortlist requirements to deliver outstanding measured building performance, high levels of user satisfaction and comfort overseas, this 7,000 sq-m high performance laboratory achieved a 94% satisfaction (survey conducted by the UC Berkeley Center for the Built Environment (CBE) in 2016), making it an exceptional building. The building has a high performance envelope, double stud construction with batt insulation in the gap and is well controlled from a heat gain and loss perspective through appropriate window to wall ratios, and utilises exposed thermal mass where possible.
A new award listing for CIBSE this year, The Learning & Development Award showcases the organisation that demonstrates how their learning and development initiative has improved the understanding of building performance within an organisation and/or in the wider built environment sector. Elementa are proud to be recognised for their Getting To Zero Initiative which bought together cross sector professionals from across the industry to formulate ideas into tangible evidence based recommendations for energy policy in London. Doug Kerr, Managing Director, proudly commented “To be nominated for not just one, but three CIBSE Building Performance Awards is a fantastic achievement for Elementa. Our continued success over the last few years has been achieved through our passion and personal approach to delivering high level service and it is an honour to see this recognised once again by CIBSE. We look forward to the results in February where we aim for our first year winning ‘Learning and Development’, our second year for ‘Consultancy of the Year’ and third for ‘International Project of the Year’”.
