Google 1212 Bordeaux Recognized as a 2019 DBIA National Design-Build Award Winner
The Design-Build Institute of America announced its winners for the 2019 National Design-Build Merit Awards. Integral Group’s project Google 1212 Bordeaux Offices won the National Award of both Merit and Excellence in the commercial/office category.
Projects are judged against the Design-Build Done Right™ standard criteria, and winning projects demonstrate effective schedule and cost performance, as well as exemplify the principles of effective processes, interdisciplinary teamwork, problem-solving and excellence in design.
Integral Light Studio provided integrated facade design and daylighting analysis with an ultimate goal of all open offices to be lit entirely by daylight, regardless of sky condition. By providing simulations and consulting, we assisted with decisions that optimized the building skin and aperture design to maximize diffuse, glare-free daylight. The offices are designed to be a model for future team-first development by Google, centered on focus and flexibility, enabled by beauty, simplicity, and minimized distractions. The project surpassed its original goal of LEED Gold certification and ultimately achieved LEED Platinum certification.
1212 Bordeaux is Google’s first completed ground-up new construction and its first design-build project. In this light, it was imperative that the design-build process be smooth and collaborative as a blueprint for future projects. Integral Group is proud to have collaborated with Devcon Construction and Parabola Architecture on this exceptional project.
