Eastleigh College
Elementa have had an ongoing relationship with Eastleigh College since 2007 being their services consultant of choice. We are still working with the college on their ongoing improvement programme.
This particular project comprised of the development of two sites, the main campus in Eastleigh and a second campus at Rookwood. Work at the main campus involved the renewal of a number of ageing buildings to deliver 21st century learning spaces including hair and beauty salons, art and design studios, a rehearsal room, dance studio and changing rooms, refectory, training kitchen and new-build restaurant.
At Rockwood the existing building is to be demolished and replaced with a purpose built higher skills learning centre housing a range of vocational facilities. Across the whole project Elementa delivered a pro-active, clientfocused approach, fully participating in end-user workshops at the design stage, and maintaining clear and constant communication at all stages of the design and construction process.
Services delivered for the project included all mechanical, electrical and public health design. We also provided dynamic thermal modelling to confirm summer-time temperature conditions and shading requirements as well as a window design and ventilation concept as part of a full energy strategy. These sustainability measures were to ensure the college received a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating.
