Ibis Earls Court Conference Centre
Situated adjacent to the heart of the Earls Court conferencing arena and the largest pillar free event space in London, the ballroom at the IBIS Earls Court has undergone a dramatic transformation. Originally fitted out in the 70s, the space and associated building services systems have been updated to cope with the demands of multiple event users in today’s modern climate.
In conjunction with a complete aesthetic refurbishment, the ballroom was redesigned to allow its separation into 9 independent event zones in lieu of the original 3. This affords the hotel greater efficiencies and economic viability in operation. In conjunction with this major change to the internal operation of the room Elementa worked with Accor to devise a lighting, heating, cooling and controls strategy which allowed the room to function in the most energy efficient manor and where necessary, work independently as 1 to 9 separate zones via a sliding wall system.
This required a complete overhaul of the existing ventilation and the installation of a new variable air volume system. This worked in conjunction with specially designed lighting rafts that allowed the spaces to be a versatile as possible when split. The IBIS Earls Court now has an event space that will make it a key destination for meetings, conferencing and major exhibitions.
