IPP Pathology Laboratory
This project involved the full redevelopment of an old manufacturing facility to provide a “Hub” Laboratory to serve much of the South West’s pathology demands. Requiring new ventilation, air conditioning, lighting, fire alarm, domestic water, conditioned (purified) water and security systems, this project was a full redevelopment within the existing “shell”.
The building includes many specialised items of equipment, many bespoke to the pathology industry of which some are automated analysers. The tracing of samples is also of utmost importance. As such the services installations required are specific to the demands of the laboratory, whilst needing the flexibility for future upgrades in technology or working practices.
The laboratory also included 2 CAT 3 labs for analysis of potentially harmful samples. As such, bespoke systems including independent extract ventilation, interface with fume cupboards and pressure cascade ventilation are required.
