Smith College Zero Emissions Campus Plan

Integral conducted a full campus energy system analysis and options assessment to support Smith College in transitioning to a zero emissions energy system by 2030. The project began with a collaborative effort to develop and refine a set of principles and criteria to drive energy system analysis and options development. Our work included:

  • Conducting interviews and analyzing energy system, fuel availability, and local climate data to understand the College’s needs and determine the potential combinations of energy source, technology, and distribution system options available to the College.
  • Developing initial cost estimates and evaluating each option against the aforementioned criteria to determine the best all-around option for the College.
